Our community taking steps toward a brighter future together.
The Mendon Upton Community Project (MUCP) is a nonprofit organization working in partnership with the community and administration at Mendon Upton Regional School District (MURSD) to improve playing conditions and equitable access to athletic and recreation facilities for the residents of Mendon and Upton.
Led by a board of volunteers from the local community, the MUCP is working with MURSD to identify incremental improvements that can be made to ensure our students and residents can enjoy recreating safely.
Once projects are identified, the MUCP will work with MURSD in gathering estimates from vendors, fundraising from the community, and organizing volunteers to support the completion of each phase of work.

Bill McInnis, MURSD Physical Education Teacher & Coach
“Having better outdoor facilities will enhance our physical education program at MURSD tremendously. Many times I have to work hard just to find a level area of grass so kids can effectively perform skills for different activities. I worry about a student getting injured because of the poor field conditions.
The area that I usually teach on is the designated field hockey field. There are clumps of grass and huge dropoffs that potentially cause serious injure a student.
As a coach my main concern is being able to teach the proper skills for a sport. In field hockey we teach ariels, reverse stick, and shots can't be proficiently performed without a level playing field. This puts our youth and high school programs at such a disadvantage over other communities nearby.”
